Creating and Editing Segments

A segment is a group of visitors identified by a common characteristic such as gender, age, language, or location. You use segments to include a specific audience in your test, and you can use multiple segments in each test.

To create a segment:

  1. If necessary, navigate to the Dashboard by clicking optimize_homebutton.
  2. Click  optimize_manage.
  3. Click Segments from the drop-down list. (The Manage Segments list should display.)
  4. Click and drag segment attributes into the right-hand pane, and define them. You can add as many attributes as you like, and can also use boolean operators (And, Or) to combine multiple segments.
  5. Give the segment a useful name in the Segment Name field at lower right, then click Save.
To edit a segment:

  1. If necessary, navigate to the Dashboard by clicking optimize_homebutton.
  2. Click optimize_manage.
  3. Click Segments from the drop-down list. (The Manage Segments list should display.)
  4. Click the optimize_editicon icon at the right of the segment name. If you want to view segment details before editing, click the segment name.
  5. Modify the segment attributes as desired, including the segment name.
  6. When you’re satisfied with your changes, click Save.
