Default and Indexed Parameters

User-friendly names are available to common query parameters you may want to use in Explore. If these query parameters are collected as part of your account’s data collection process, then they will be given user-friendly names automatically and historical data for each of these query parameters, if collected, will be indexed and made available for use in Explore.

Note, this initial set of query parameters is pre-configured to help you begin using Explore; however, it is possible to apply user-friendly names to any query parameter collected for your account. See Managing Parameter Names in Account Settings.

Query Parameter Syntax in Webtrends Explore

The syntax of query parameters is enhanced in Explore from the syntax used in Webtrends Analytics 9 and 10. These enhancements support data processing in our new big data platform. Some enhancements you will see include a replacement of dot (“.”) characters with underscores (“_”). Prefixes are also added, such as “ext”.

Query Parameter Prefixes

  • data – Query parameters collected from the Webtrends tag or SDK
  • ext – Device related parameters added based on user agent lookup and geographical parameters added based on IP address lookup
  • entry – Parameters that identify events or content at the beginning of a session
  • exit – Parameters that identify events or content at the end of a session
  • date – Parameters added based on parsing of the datetime field
